IT Systems Engineer (f/m/d)

Your role:
We are in business to save our home planet. Your role will contribute to this purpose by designing and developing our systems, ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.
The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining all infrastructure and system installations, including configuration, testing, and ongoing maintenance. This role is also involved in the implementation and management of backups, security measures, and redundancy strategies.
Additionally, the IT Systems Engineer i proactively identifies potential issues, develops and integrates effective solutions, and creates custom scripts to automate processes, thereby enhancing efficiency and supporting smarter business operations while managing our third-party vendors.
Main tasks:
Support the implementation of global technological strategies and collaborate with the International IT Team and third-party vendors.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and define system requirements while overseeing third-party vendors and contractors for outsourced work, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of services.
Manage and optimize systems to ensure high availability, efficient resource utilization, and effective device management, while maintaining security policies.
Streamline and automate processes and monitoring using scripting technologies.
Provide technical guidance and support for new applications and services during onboarding.
Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components, and document design, maintenance, and support procedures for routine tasks to empower IT support staff.
Regularly test software for bugs, redundancies, and security issues, and conduct comprehensive vulnerability management to ensure the environment remains up-to-date and compliant with industry frameworks (e.g., PCI-DSS, CIS).
Provide Tier 2 and 3 support for IT Helpdesk, assist users with support issues, and serve as backup for IT Helpdesk and lead Tier 4 escalation, where required.
Perform high-level root-cause analysis for service interruptions and establish preventive measures while outlining findings and solutions with proper documentation;
Manage the backup strategy and oversee daily operations for secure backups and restore testing.
Oversee the lifecycle and maintenance of networking and server equipment across EMEA HQ, regional offices, and retail locations.
Integrate and harmonize technology trends from US HQ with EMEA needs.
What we’re looking for:
5 years of experience in computer engineering, systems administration, engineering support, or consulting
Industry certifications preferred (e.g., Microsoft, Cloud environments, etc.)
Hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco technologies
Experience with monitoring/or log ingestion platforms is preferred (Datadog)
Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure and related technologies
Experience in vendor management and stakeholder management
Strong understanding of networking concepts, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routers, switches, and wireless access points and firewalls
Fluent English is a must, other languages a plus
Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Able to work well under pressure and with multiple project deadlines
Ability to switch between projects and specific day-to-day responsibilities
Self-motivated, self-starter, detail-oriented, good follow-through, and able to meet deadlines
Interest in environmental issues and outdoor activities

This is a full time position, based in Amsterdam.
We have a hybrid work model, working from home for maximum 3 days per week
