Your role:

We’re in business to save our home planet. Your role will contribute to this mission by supporting the Accounting Manager and Accounting Team with the consistent recording of financial data into relevant systems in accordance with accounting principles and internal procedures. You will work closely with multiple functions within finance to gain comprehensive knowledge of all accounting processes and ensure the General Ledger is accurate and compliant for tax and statutory purposes across Europe.

You will play a key role in enhancing accounting processes by implementing practical solutions, data automation and contributing to a strong knowledge-sharing platform. You will have the ability to manage projects and communicate to stakeholders in different levels of the organization. 

Main tasks: 

• Support the day-to-day and month-end accounting operations including but not limited to foreign currency revaluation, intercompany accounting, deferred rent accounting, fixed asset accounting and cash & credit card reconciliations for our retail and e-commerce channels.

• Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and communicate effectively back to the accounting team and accounting manager.

• Implement solutions and work with the accounting team to plan and execute projects and process enhancements as needed such as automation.

• Perform monthly balance sheet reviews to ensure financial data is reconciled and recorded timely and accurately.

• Draft process & procedure documentation and demonstrate a strong focus on compliance. 

• Ability to implement and effectively communicate accounting policies and controls across the organization.

• Act as core Accounting representative for accounting processes & systems.

• Independently address internal and external queries in accordance with accounting principles and company guidelines. 

• Assist the accounting manager with internal and external audits and act as point of contact. 

• Perform reviews of work performed by the accounting team.

• Filing, scanning, storing, and retrieving of all related financial documents in accordance with local rules, regulations and company policies

What we’re looking for:

• Degree in a related discipline (accounting, finance, economics, statistics…) or similar work experience.

• 3-5 years’ experience in Accounting or related function.

• Successful track record in implementing and adhering to internal controls.

• Advanced Excel Proficiency including data automation (e.g. macro’s, power queries).

• Knowledge of ERP Systems with several years of experience as a key user or experience with technical implementations of systems to improve financial processes in the organization.

• Understanding of functional accounting processes, related needs and prior experience with implementing automation of processes.

• Ability to act as a backup for the accounting manager.

• Team player and ability to build effective cross-functional relationships.

• Flexible, self-motivated, adaptable and hands on. 

• Keen attention to details, analytical mindset and proven problem-solving skills.

• Fluency in English, other languages are a plus.

It’s a plus if you also have the following:

• Part-qualified or qualified accountant with a recognized accounting body.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics D365 Finance & Operations(F&O).

• Experience with any of the following is a plus: PowerBI, Blackline, Snowflake, TM1

• This is a full time position, based in Amsterdam

• We have a hybrid work model, working from home for maximum 3 days per week
